I was diagnosed with Uveitis in my left eye in 2022 after experiencing a sudden decrease in my vision, discomfort, redness and sensitivity to light. In my case, my uveitis is chronic and has no cause, the only way to treat the inflammation is with steroid eye drops. After treating it with the drops on and off for years I have developed a cataract in my eye which has drastically worsened my vision requiring surgery to replace the lens. This surgery will remove the cataract but will not take away the uveitis and I will require ongoing appointments and treatment with an ophthalmologist to monitor it. As an artist, this has been so overwhelming and scary as it’s a direct threat to being able to do what I love.
Your donations will be going towards paying for my eye surgery as well as ongoing ophthalmologist appointments and medication costs. These appointments cost upwards of $300 for every visit as each appointment requires an OCT scan to view the layers of my retina and track how the inflammation is progressing.
Thank you for taking the time to read, it’s not been so easy to ask for help with this but I appreciate every bit of support.
